Read MoreThe novel coronavirus, COVID-19, arguably constitutes the biggest health crisis of our time. Until an effective vaccine is found, maintaining social (and physical) distance from others is the only effective remedy. Although this approach has been quite successful, the next big challenge is how to maintain social distancing, now that the pandemic has receded in some countries, but the threat of a resurge looms large.
This project applies a multidisciplinary approach (behavioral, communication, and computer science) to understand compliance with COVID-19 mitigation measures, and to identify which processes contribute to this. To do so, it brings together insights from survey research, video surveillance, and media analysis. This combination provides a unique lens for monitoring compliance, and for understanding the ways to sustain and facilitate this.
