Social distancing in America during the summer months

Introduction As there is no effective vaccine available yet, social distancing and stay at home orders are two important measures to mitigate the COVID-19 virus. The real challenge lies in ensuring that people comply with these measures for the necessary weeks and months. This project gathered real- time data in the United States to assess to what extent people complied with COVID-19 mitigation measures in the period between May and July. After its relative lenient, “intelligent lockdown” approach to the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Netherlands has continued a singular trajectory in combating the pandemic. After its mitigation measures were loosened in May and June, the month of July introduced further changes – by re-opening fitness centers, relaxing prior restrictions on attendance for indoor and outdoor events (to maximally 100 and 250 people, respectively), and even abolishing restrictions in many public places (e.g., shops, museums, zoos, restaurants). Sustaining Social Distancing after the Lockdown: Lessons about Compliance from the Netherlands in June 2020

In the month of June, the Netherlands has continued its singular trajectory in combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
